Story
On February 13th Debbie and Michelle are prepared to shave their head to raise awareness and funds for OVARIAN CANCER!
We need your support, Please sponsor us by contributing in store or making a donation here on-line.
- Each year more than 1,200 Australian women are diagnosed with ovarian cancer
- On average 3 women are diagnosed each day
- Each year more than 800 Australian women die from ovarian cancer – that’s one woman every 11 hours
- Ovarian cancer is the 6th most common cause of cancer death in Australian women
- Approximately 75% of women are diagnosed at an advanced stage where the cancer has spread and is difficult to treat successfully
- If ovarian cancer is diagnosed in the early stages up to 80% of women will be alive and well after five years.
Every woman needs to know the symptoms of ovarian cancer. Make sure you do.
The four most common symptoms of ovarian cancer include:
- Abdominal or pelvic pain.
- Increased abdominal size or persistent abdominal bloating.
- Needing to urinate often or urgently.
- Difficulty eating or feeling full quickly.

- In Australia the overall five-year survival rate for women diagnosed with ovarian cancer is 49%.
- In comparison, the overall five-year survival rate for women diagnosed with breast cancer is 92%
- Each year, over 1,800 Australian women are diagnosed with ovarian cancer, and around 1,000 women will die from the disease
- 70% of patients diagnosed with advanced ovarian cancer will have a recurrence within 3 years
- There is no early detection test for ovarian cancer
- The disease can affect females of all ages
